Redfin Feature! Styling a home with photography

Well this is fun! Have you heard of Redfin? It’s by far my favorite place to stalk pretty houses. I even once got to photograph their CEO, Glenn Kelman, at The Scaleup Offsite hosted by Greylock Partners.

He’s a gem. If you’re interested in his thoughts on how to build a board, check out his talk. Or, if your company is looking for an event photographer, check out my other company, Show Ready.

Anyway, last week, I was asked by Redfin’s Mekaila Oaks if I’d like to share my best tip for styling a home with photography. Ummm… yes!

My one little tip was compiled with 24 others to make a pretty incredible list of 25 Unique Yet Timeless Ways to Style Your Home with Photos, According to Pros. Lots of great tips there, but here’s a sneak peek of what I shared:

Create a Diptych or Triptych!

Instead of displaying just one photo, group 2-3 photos that share a look or theme. Combining one traditionally posed image with 1-2 candid images better tells the story of your family.

Bonus tip! Always print large enough so that faces can be clearly seen from across a room.

Funny enough this feature happens to fall just before I launch a new e-book on how to hang artwork right the first time (no more extra holes in the wall, and everything straight!). Putting the final touches on it now, so stay tuned! Sign up here to hear when the free e-book launches, or let me know what kind of e-book you would find helpful!

Until next time, stay healthy & safe 💙
